William Shakespeare: King Lear

I inform the kind readership that I have been playing a role as a musician together with Ildikó Szakács in a piece directed by Peter Gothár. The premiere took place in the Grand Stage of National Theatre on 19th March. Further performance dates can be found in the Calendar menu.

"Theatrical writers consider King Lear as a masterpiece – writes Jan Kott in his Shakespeare monography- such a masterwork which tarnishes Macbeth and even Hamlet. It could be compared to the Mass in h minor by Bach, 5th and 9th Symphony by Beethoven, Parsifal by Wagner, the Last Judgement by Michelangelo, or the Purgatory and Inferno by Dante. However, we can look at King Lear as a mountain which is admierd by everyone but climbed by few."

The company of the National Theatre –with János Kulka in the role of Lear -, with Péter Gothár as director and Dániel Varró as traslator set for an adventure to conquer the mountain.
